Cimex lectularius, or, also referred to as a bed bug, but we might as well say bed bugs because it is near impossible to be just one. So you have seen the hype around them, you may even have determined that your home has bed bugs, now you must learn how to get rid of bed bugs. But the fact is, in order to pull this off you are going to have to spend money in most cases, and you are going to have to apply every method that you have ever read about when it comes to successfully learning how to get rid of bed bugs. A lot of people may argue that the easiest way to get rid of bed bugs would be to have it done professionally.
Professionals deal with this all of the time – so this means that they more than likely have a lot more knowledge about getting rid of them than you do. If you refuse to pay someone to kill them then you need to do some reading and learn everything about them. Where they hide, when they feed, how often they feed, and how the hell to kill them once you start discovering some of their hiding spots.
You can either use extreme cold to kill bed bugs or you can use extreme heat. If you asked me I would go with heat first because it kills them almost instantly. Some sources of heat that you could use that may be lying around the house would be a hair dryer. You will have to put it on the highest temperature setting and you may need an extension cord so that you can hit up all of the spots that you think the bed bugs may be hiding.
A hair dryer will not only kill bed bugs almost instantly, it will also destroy their eggs, which is what you ultimaitly need to do in order to halt the reproduction cycle. Another thing that you could use to kill them, especially when it comes to your bed is a steam iron. This is very good for getting into those cracks and crevices in the mattress that I keep talking about, the place that they love to hide their eggs and camp out there themselves during the day time. Steam will kill them instantly and their eggs to.
If you are trying to use pesticides you must be very careful of what you use. For instance there may be a small chance that if you let off a bunch of foggers in your home that it may get rid of some of the bed bugs. But foggers usually do not do the trick, even if you do use 5 times the recommended amount, which can be very dangerous to your health, and very sever to your pets if you have any.
